Simon Scott and the Band of Infidels @ Myspace

Simon Scott writes rock and roll music that is deeply rooted in the American singer-songwriter tradition. Born in a mining town in the north of England, he migrated to London as a teenager and began working as a musician, singing and playing keyboards and guitar in a number of bands around the city. During this period he was inundated with a myriad of musical influences, including rock, punk, soul, and country. After some time spent singing in a soul band Scott formed his own group, Southern Fly, and proceeded to cut several records. Southern Fly maintained a busy touring schedule and Scott continued to hone his sound in the bars and rock and roll clubs of London and other European cities.

Southern Fly broke up after several years on the London scene and Scott moved to New York City as a veteran musician. He lived in Spanish Harlem, writing songs and working as a chef to pay the rent. Scott began playing solo shows around New York to introduce his work to the city and find an audience. He played and continues to play at bars and clubs all over the city. Scott went to Mississippi in February, 2006 to record a new album 'Rhythm Guitar, Shakers and Tambourines' and spent a month making music in the Magnolia State. Appearing on this record are Cody and Luther Dickinson, of the North Mississippi Allstars, and songwriter Carwin Ellis. Working in the south with southern musicians allowed Scott an excellent chance to explore blues rhythms and the distinctive sound of southern rock, both of which are incorporated into his newest record.

When he returned to New York he formed a new band, Simon Scott and the band of Infidels, and has since been playing a busy schedule of shows all around N.Y.C. As a graduate of the London and New York music worlds Scott is an underground favorite with an expanding audience and a new record that is well worth listening to.
