The States are a Brooklyn brain-punk band born of the creative tension between brawn and beauty, perfectionism and accident. In 2007 they released their second record, the politically charged The Path of Least Resistance. They were Grand Prize Winners in the 2007 John Lennon Songwriting Competition for "Black Jack." In early 2008, Q104.3's Jonathan Clarke included the band in his list of New York's top 10 bands of 2007. The band was also recently named a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for "All the Salt in the Sea."
